What features can I use on my iPhone 1.1.2 while waiting for a unlock hack?

Pretty much every iPhone purchased these days has firmware 1.1.2 pree-installed. Since There is still no software unlock for this firmware I'm wondering. How can I use my iPhone until a new unlock hack arrives (which I'm certain it will eventually).

-Can I use mail on a locked iPhone (through wi-fi)?
-Can I use it as an iPod touch?
-Can I use the wi-fi?
-Can I sync the device (contacts, mail etc) with my computer?
-What else?

I jailbreaked my iPhone 1.1.2 with bootlader 4.6. I am now able to use it as an Ipod touch, including:

-Sync my address book and e-mail with outlook
- Use wi-fi (e.g. you tube)
- Sync films and music and all thing you can sync with an Ipod

Unfortunately it is not possible yet to unlock te iPhone 1.1.2 (4.6 BL)

Do you have to jailbreak it in order to use it just as an "iPod touch" ?
What happens if I start using it straight out of the box?

Hi,
I had successfully activated iPhone 1.1.2 Now i can use wi fi ,same as ipod touch but not yet unlocked it to use other sim cards.

To use my 1.1.2 phone,  (if I just want to use it as an Ipod touch...) do I need to open it (physically)...?
