Apple's iWatch software SDK rumored to have been sent to major app developers

[/url]

Apple's highly anticipated, but still unconfirmed, wearable device, commonly called the iWatch by the media, may be able to run third party apps. In fact, a new report claims that Apple has already sent the iWatch software SDK to a small number of major app companies.

9to5Mac, citing unnamed sources, says the pre-release SDK was only sent out recently to these app developers and claims Facebook was one of them. It's possible Apple wanted them to develop iWatch apps in time for the company's big press event on Tuesday to show off how they will work on their wearable product.

The iWatch is not expected to go on sale until sometime in 2015, but the article speculated that should give developers more time to create apps for the product. The device may even have its own app store similar to the ones for the iPhone and iPad, according to the 9to5Mac report.

As usual, this latest unconfirmed story should be approached with some skepticism until Apple holds its press event on September 9. In the meantime, what do you think would be the most popular apps made for a hypothetical iWatch?

Source: 9to5Mac.com
