Apple's latest transparency report details government data and device requestsApple has released its latest transparency report regarding government data requests, which covers July 1 through December 31, 2015. The report breaks down requests by type, then divides those further by specific subgroups and countries. Categories include, for instance, how many accounts were specified in the requests, which requests Apple objected to, and which requests Apple provided data for.
Apple received a total of 30,687 device requests from law enforcement agencies around the world, covering 167,090 devices. As the report states, these requests were mostly regarding lost or stolen devices. The company provided some data in 63% of cases in the Asia Pacific region, 52% in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa, and 80% in both Latin America and North America.
