MacBook Pro teardown offers look at the Touch Bar and a speaker surprise

Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is a wholly different animal from is Function key-sporting sibling.

Once again, iFixit has opened up the latest Apple device to get an in-depth look at what makes it tick, and this time, it's the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. What they found was fairly interesting. For instance, the speakers on the 13-inch MacBook Pro aren't where you might think they are.

  The speakers are not located under the speaker grilles. The speaker grille doesn't even go clear through the case. These speakers likely blast their impressive sound through the side air vents.


Other highlights of the teardown include a comparison of the vastly differing layouts of the Touch Bar Mac and the Function key model, as well as a look at the Touch Bar itself. That component, it should be noted, is unsurprisingly fragile, but unless you spend a good deal of time taking your Macs apart, or dropping things on them, that really shouldn't be a problem.
