SimCity for Mac under construction until August

Virtual city planners counting down the days until the June 11 release of SimCity for Mac will have to revise their calendars. The release date has been pushed back to August, according to a blog post on the SimCity website.

“We have made this tough decision because we do not believe it is ready for primetime yet,” wrote SimCity Senior Producer Kip Katsarelis. “We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time.”

As a consolation, buyers of SimCity for Mac will get the SimCity Launch Park, an area that was made available to early adopters of SimCity for PC in update 4.0.

SimCity for Mac is available for pre-order though Electronic Arts’s Origin online store. The $80 Digital Deluxe version and the $60 standard version are available as digital downloads only. SimCity requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or later, and Mac OS X Lion or Mountain Lion.
