Apple has found itself on the losing end of a patent lawsuit and has been ordered to pay $23.6 million to Mobile Telecommunications Technologies, which claimed that Apple infringed on pager technology patents that were first developed in the 1990s by Skytel.</p> <!--break--> <p>Bloomberg reports that a federal jury in Marshall, Texas agreed late on Monday that Apple had used those SkyTel patents without the permission of their current owners. MTel claimed that Apple used their technology in their
iPhone,
iPad, iPod Touch and Airport products. MTel was originally asking for $237.2 million in damages.</p> <p>During the trial, lawyers for Apple denied the company was infringing on the patents. They also tried to claim the patents were invalid because the company felt they didn't offer anything new when they were first issued. An Apple spokesperson would not comment on Monday's jury verdict.</p> <p>Source:
