Nintendo opens up pre-registration for Miitomo smartphone appAs promised, Nintendo has started taking sign-ups for people who want to pre-register for the game publisher's first smartphone app, Miitomo. The app, which will be released for Android and iOS devices, is scheduled to launch sometime in March. The signup process allows users to create a Nintendo Account, which will let the company alert them when Miitomo goes live in the iOS App Store. It will also offer them Platinum Points for the My Nintendo rewards program, which will launch at the same time as the Miitomo app. The app itself is less of a game and more of a chat experience using the Mii avatars that were first introduced with the Nintendo Wii console: Once their Mii is ready to act as their social go-between, users can add friends in person, or through their existing Facebook or Twitter accounts.
