Apple's iPhone 6s order said to be upwards of 90 million units

[/url]

Apple is reportedly asking its suppliers to make upwards of 90 million units of the upcoming iPhone 6s by the end of 2015. By comparison, last year's iPhone 6 launch sold 74.5 million units in the first three months of availability, which broke Apple's previous sales record.

From The Wall Street Journal:

Apple is asking suppliers to manufacture between 85 million and 90 million units combined of two new iPhone models with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays by Dec. 31, according to people familiar with the matter. The screen sizes are the same as in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPhone 6s, if that ends up being the device's name, is said to be externally identical to last year's devices, for the most part changing internally, though it may add a rose gold color option. The phone may also come with an updated 12MP camera, 2GB of RAM, and support for Apple's Force Touch technology, which can distinguish between taps and more forceful presses.

Source: The Wall Street Journal
