Apple overtook Samsung to become the number one mobile phone vendor in the U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. According to the report, Apple shipped 17.7 million iPhones, grabbing a record 34% of the market share in the fourth quarter of 2012. It was up sharply from 12.8 million units shipped and 25.4 percent market share in the fourth quarter of 2011.
