<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large_wm_brw/public/field/image/2015/04/iphone-5c-fixed-shattered-hero.jpg?itok=5Z8VgzmA' /></p> <p class="intro">Shattered your iPhone 5c (http://www.imore.com/iphone-5c) screen? We can help you replace it in under 10 minutes!</p> <p>It's never a good day when you drop your iPhone and realize the screen has broken. Luckily, the iPhone 5c is one of the easier iPhone DIY repairs (http://www.imore.com/iphone-repair) when it comes to screen replacements. We showed you a while back how to replace a busted iPhone 5c display (http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-screen-iphone-5c). Since then one of our favorite parts suppliers, eTech Parts (http://www.etechparts.com/?Click=32884), has made this particular repair even easier by offering displays that come with small parts already pre-installed. That means there's nothing to transfer. Just replace the front assembly and you're done, making this an easy repair, even for beginners!</p> <!--break--> <p>The main difference between this guide and my other 5c guide is the level of difficulty and convenience. This guide is the route we'd recommend for 90% of people looking who are looking to replace their own iPhone 5c screen. It only costs about $15 more and will save you tons of time, and possible headaches.</p> <p>These are the parts that will already come pre-installed on your iPhone 5c display as opposed to having to transfer them over on your own:</p> <ul><li>LCD Shield Plate</li> <li>Front Camera with Induction Flex Cable Assembly</li> <li>Front Camera</li> <li>Earpiece Speaker</li> <li>Earpiece Bracket</li> <li>Home Button with Rubber Gasket</li> <li>Home Button Flex</li> <li>Home Button Bracket</li> </ul><p>Sound like a lot of time saved? That's because it is!</p> <h2>Discounted tools and parts</h2> <p>There are lots of parts suppliers out there but not all of them are created equal, especially fly by night Amazon and eBay resellers. That's why we recommend always using a supplier that specializes in iPhone parts and offers a warranty of some kind. We highly recommend eTech Parts (http://www.etechparts.com/?Click=32884) whose customer service and part quality just can't be matched. eTech offers shipping to many countries throughout the world.</p> <h3>30% off high quality parts and tools</h3> <p>eTech has been kind enough to offer up a coupon code for all the iMore DIY'ers in tons of countries throughout the world that will give you <strong>30% off</strong> your entire order. Just use the following coupon code when checking out:</p> <ul><li><strong>eTech coupon code: iMore</strong></li> </ul><p>Here's a complete list of parts and tools we recommend for this particular repair. Clicking any of the buy links will take you directly to that item on eTech's site.</p> <ul><li>iPhone 5c replacement screen, including small parts - Buy now (https://www.etechparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=822-5125&amp;Click=32884)</li> <li>Suction cup - Buy now (https://www.etechparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=822-1274&amp;Click=32884)</li> <li>5-point security screwdriver - Buy now (https://www.etechparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=26764&amp;Click=32884)</li> <li>Standard #000 Phillips screwdriver - Buy now (https://www.etechparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=26102&amp;Click=32884)</li> <li>Nylon spudger tool - Buy now (https://www.etechparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=822-1280&amp;Click=32884)</li> <li>Razor blade (not necessary, but recommended) - Buy Now (https://www.etechparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=130-2001&amp;Click=32884)</li> </ul><p>Note: Some folks have trouble getting the screen off with a suction cup if the screen is extremely spidered. This why we recommend picking up a razor blade as well in case you run into this problem. We can show you an alternate way of removing the display.</p> <h2>Power off your iPhone</h2> <p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/10/iphone_5c_slide_power_off_hero.jpg?itok=Zaeq7hED' /></p> <p>Before performing any repair on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch you should always remember to power it off. Simply hold down on the <strong>Power button</strong> until you see <strong>Slide to Power off</strong>. One you're sure your iPhone is turned off, proceed to the next section.</p> <h2>Remove the dock screws</h2> <p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/09/iphone_5c_blue_gallery_photos_7.jpg?itok=VmzU1ydL' /></p> <p>There are two security screws that secure the screen to the frame and they sit on each side of the dock connector. Use your <strong>5-point security screwdriver</strong> to remove them. They are both the same size so it's okay if you mix them up.</p> <h2>Remove the broken display</h2> <ol><li>Place your <strong>suction cup</strong> slightly above the <strong>Home button</strong> assembly and secure it to the screen. <a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large_wm_brw/public/field/image/2015/04/iphone-5c-suction-cup-hero.jpg?itok=d1kFd74r' /></li> <li>Holding the iPhone in place with one hand, gently pull upwards on the suction cup until you free the bottom of the screen. You should now be able to use your fingers to slowly raise up the screen and expose where the front assembly is connected to the logic board.</li> <li>Remove the <strong>four screws</strong> holding down the shield that covers the display cables. To do this, use your <strong>#000 screwdriver</strong>. These screws are different sizes so make sure you keep them organized in a way you can remember for re-assembly.<a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/10/iphone_5c_screen_assembly_shield_screws.jpg?itok=KvNeVkbD' /></li> <li>Once all four screws are removed, carefully remove the shield and set it aside. <a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/10/iphone_5s_display_shield_removed_hero_9.jpg?itok=r8JXvKDe' /></li> <li>Now use your <strong>spudger tool</strong> in order to remove the <strong>three cables</strong> shown in the image below. <a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/10/iphone_5c_display_cable_positions_remove.jpg?itok=YoHVYBjP' /></li> <li>The display assembly should now be free from the body of the phone. </li> </ol><p>Note: We used the suction cup method here but if the screen is extremely spidered, you may not be able to get a firm seal with a suction cup. If that's the case, carefully work your way around the bottom of the phone between the frame and display assembly with a <strong>razor blade</strong> until you can gently pry up using the flat end of your <strong>nylon spudger tool</strong> instead.</p> <h2>Replace the broken display</h2> <ol><li>Attach the <strong>three cables</strong> on the <strong>new display</strong> to the logic board of your iPhone 5c. <a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/10/iphone_5c_display_cable_positions_remove.jpg?itok=YoHVYBjP' /></li> <li>Replace the <strong>display shield</strong> and the <strong>four screws</strong> you removed earlier. <a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/10/iphone_5c_screen_assembly_shield_screws.jpg?itok=KvNeVkbD' /></li> <li>Lay down the display and snap it in place. Remember, don't ever force the display down. Make sure it's lined up correctly and starting from the <strong>top</strong>, snap it in place gently. </li> </ol><h2>Replace the dock screws</h2> <p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2013/09/iphone_5c_blue_gallery_photos_7.jpg?itok=VmzU1ydL' /></p> <ol><li>Use your <strong>security screwdriver</strong> to replace the <strong>two screws</strong> that sit on either side of the dock. </li> </ol><h2>Test the new display</h2> <p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-replace-broken-iphone-5c-screen-under-10-minutes' title="How to replace a broken iPhone 5c screen in under 10 minutes"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large_wm_brw/public/field/image/2015/04/iphone-5c-power-up-hero.jpg?itok=jp3HJGi7' /></p> <p>Once your iPhone 5c is fully put back together, it's safe to turn it back on and begin testing the new front assembly. To do so, check the following functions:</p> <ul><li>Place a test call and make sure the earpiece functions correctly</li> <li>Type on the keyboard extensively to test for dead spots</li> <li>Make sure transferring from earpiece to speakerphone works correctly</li> <li>Place a call and put your finger over the proximity sensor to ensure the screen goes dark</li> <li>Test the front facing camera to ensure it is working properly</li> <li>Test the Home button by single and double tapping, ensure both work as they should</li> </ul><p>If all of the above checks out okay, you're good to go!</p> <p>See also:</p> <ul><li>How to replace a broken iPhone screen: The ultimate guide (http://www.imore.com/iphone-ipad-and-ipod-touch-diy-repair-ultimate-guide-replacing-broken-screens)</li> <li>Everything you need to know about iPhone DIY repair (http://www.imore.com/iphone-repair)</li> </ul></div></div></div><img width='1' height='1' src='(http://tipb.com.feedsportal.com/c/33998/f/616881/s/45830378/sc/15/mf.gif)' border='0'/><br clear='all'/>
