The issue causes Messages to crash or reboot when a specific Unicode string was received. Apple's fix involves a three-step process that utilizes Siri (http://www.imore.com/siri).<!--break--></p> <p>From Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204897):</p> <ol><li>Ask Siri to "read unread messages."</li> <li>Use Siri to reply to the malicious message. After you reply, you'll be able to open Messages again.</li> <li>In Messages, swipe left to delete the entire thread. Or tap and hold the malicious message, tap More, and delete the message from the thread.</li> </ol><p>Apple also notes that they will offer a software update with a fix. There are also a number of steps you can take (http://www.imore.com/how-fix-ios-8-unicode-messages-crash-bug) to prevent crashes from your lock screen, on your Apple Watch (http://www.imore.com/apple-watch), and from Notification Center.</p> <p>Source: Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204897)</p> </div></div></div><img width='1' height='1' src='(http://tipb.com.feedsportal.com/c/33998/f/616881/s/46c292ee/sc/28/mf.gif)' border='0'/><br clear='all'/> <a href="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/rc/1/rc.htm" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/rc/1/rc.img" border="0"/> <a href="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/rc/2/rc.htm" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/rc/2/rc.img" border="0"/> <a href="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/rc/3/rc.htm" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/rc/3/rc.img" border="0"/> <img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/a2.img" border="0"/> (http://da.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/a2.htm)<img width="1" height="1" src="http://pi.feedsportal.com/r/228766126956/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/46c292ee/sc/28/a2t.img" border="0"/><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheIphoneBlog/~4/mnFv9CUmbs0" height="1" width="1" alt=""/> Source: Apple posts a workaround for iOS 8 Unicode bug; fix still in the works (http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/TheIphoneBlog/~3/mnFv9CUmbs0/story01.htm) |
