Adele's record label backs out of Apple Music free trial

When it launches this month, Apple Music (http://www.macworld.com/article/2934744/apple-music-faq-the-ins-and-outs-of-apples-new-streaming-music-service.html) is promising three months of free, unlimited, on-demand music streaming without having to listen to ads, but for Adele fans this is simply too good to be true.</p><p>
The music industry on the other side of the pond is fighting back against Apple Music’s free three-month trial because record labels won’t be paid royalties (http://www.macworld.com/article/2936054/apple-music-wont-pay-record-labels-for-3-month-free-trials.html) during that time. The Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/digital-media/11679030/Record-labels-attack-Apple-deals-that-would-leave-them-completely-screwed.html) is reporting that British record label XL Recordings (http://www.xlrecordings.com/), home to Adele, Radiohead, Jack White, and M.I.A., has not yet agreed to Apple Music’s terms. Fellow U.K. label Domino Records (http://www.dominorecordco.us/artists/), home to a batch of lesser-known indie artists, is also currently refusing to join Apple Music, first announced during WWDC and expected to launch on June 30.</p><p class="jumpTag"><a href="/article/2937142/adeles-record-label-backs-out-of-apple-music-free-trial.html#jump">To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here[/url]</p></section></article>
