Apple reportedly signs deal with music label Beggars and Merlin rights group

Apple continues on its quest to register interest and support for its music streaming service.</p> <p><a href='http://www.imore.com/apple-reportedly-deal-music-label-beggars-and-merlin-rights-group' title="Apple reportedly signs deal with music label Beggars and Merlin rights group"><img src='(http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2015/06/wwdc-keynote-apple-music.png)?itok=Xfayj-5o' />[/url]</p> <p>According to Billboard, Apple has closed a deal with both companies for the upcoming Apple Music (http://www.imore.com/apple-music), which could prove to be a rather big deal.<!--break--> Beggars owns numerous independant labels, while the Merlin Group represents tens of thousands of labels and distributors, licensing content to various services like YouTube and Spotify.</p> <p>Merlin CEO Charles Caldas sent the following in an email to members of the group:</p>

<p>"I am pleased to say that Apple has made a decision to pay for all usage of Apple Music under the free trials on a per-play basis, as well as to modify a number of other terms that members had been communicating directly with Apple about. With these changes, we are happy to support the deal."</p>

<p>The move comes just days after Apple caved into Taylor Swift's plea (http://www.imore.com/eddy-cue-says-apple-music-will-pay-artists-streaming-even-during-free-trial) to alter how the company managed its free trial, opting now to pay artists for each track played.
