Jony Ive officially assumes role of Chief Design Officer

<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Jony Ive (http://www.imore.com/jony-ive) was promoted to Chief Design Officer (http://www.imore.com/jony-ive-gets-promoted-chief-design-officer) — allowing him to oversee Apple's entire design philosophy — nearly six weeks ago, and has now officially assumed the role. Alan Dye and Richard Howarth will now be managing day-to-day activities of the User Interface Design and Industrial Design teams respectively, reporting directly to Tim Cook (http://www.imore.com/tim-cook).</p> <!--break--> <p>Apple has updated Ive's executive profile to reflect the change:</p>

<p>Jony is responsible for all design at Apple, including the look and feel of Apple hardware, user interface, packaging, major architectural projects such as Apple Campus 2 and Apple's retail stores, as well as new ideas and future initiatives.</p>

<p>The Cupertino giant has also added executive for Dye (http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/alan-dye.html) and Howarth  (http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/richard-howarth.html).
