Some Mac Users Are Unable to Log into iMessage and FaceTime after Updating to OS X 10.11.4

It looks like the OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan update has borked iMessage and FaceTime for many OS X users, who are unable to log into the messaging service after updating their Mac. Majority of the users facing this issue did a clean install of OS X 10.11.4 on their Mac, while other recently purchased a new Mac.
