iPhone 8 with OLED screen rumored to launch in 2017 instead of iPhone 7s

Apple may switch up its iPhone cycle a bit in 2017, possibly skipping a theoretical "iPhone 7s" for an "iPhone 8". Following recent reports, analyst Mark Moskowitz believes that the iPhone 7 could be followed up next year by a completely revamped phone, one with a brand new design, wireless charging, and no Home button.

  Our conversations with industry participants suggest Apple could skip the "S" cycle next year and instead jump to IP8. The jump could showcase major form factor changes, including OLED, no home button, and wireless charging. In our view, these potential changes could drive a mega cycle, underpinning our C2017 iPhone unit growth estimate of 10.3%, vs. 6.3% previously.


While this should definitely be taken with a big grain of salt, it does at least seem plausible. Apple is currently rumored to be planning an iPhone with a glass body and AMOLED display for 2017. And if Apple does indeed remove the Home button, it seems likely that the company wou...
