A new report claims that Tencent, the China-based publisher of the hit PC MOBA, League of Legends, is in talks with Softbank to acquire their majority stake in Supercell, the creators of the hit mobile strategy game Clash of Clans. The Wall Street Journal reports that Japan-based SoftBank bought a 51% stake in Supercell for $1.53 billion in 2013 and increased that amount to 73% in 2015. It added: A person briefed on the matter said Tencent President Martin Lau and Chief Strategy Officer James Mitchell recently flew to Helsinki to persuade Supercell's founders to support a sale. But Supercell's founders, who can veto the deal, prefer to keep the company's management under SoftBank given it gets complete autonomy, some of the people said. While Tencent's ownership of League of Legends, from developer Riot Games, is a huge hit on the PC platform, it has yet to secure such a big game in the mobile market. ...
