According to a report out of Fast Company, Apple has hired the doctor that created a HealthKit-enabled diabetes monitoring system for tracking blood sugar levels in children. Rajiv Kumar created the system while working at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. In an interview with the publication, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital CEO Christopher Dawes said that Kumar will continue in a part-time role at the facility, adding: We can't compete with companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook when they really want one of our own. Kumar's monitoring system leveraged HealthKit to collate vital health data, with patients getting easy access to their blood sugar levels on their iPhones. Apple is steadily adding medical experts to bolster its efforts in this segment, as well as introducing new utilities like ResearchKit and CareKit. ...
