Latest iPhone 7 Design Renderings Show Stereo Speakers and Larger Cameras

With around three months remaining until Apple is expected to announce the tentatively named iPhone 7 (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-7/) and iPhone 7 Plus, detailed renders of the next-generation smartphones continue to surface on the web.

The latest CAD renders, posted on Chinese social media and shared by French website NWE (http://www.nowhereelse.fr/iphone-7-schemas-techniques-3d-114499/), provide a closer look at the possible design of the smartphones and paint a clearer picture of which features may be included.

The 3D renders are consistent with many previous iPhone 7 leaks, showing an iPhone 6s-like design (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/21/2016-iphone-to-feature-minor-changes/) with repositioned antenna bands (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/02/iphone-7-flush-camera-no-bands/), no headphone jack (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/21/2016-iphone-to-feature-minor-changes/), and a dual-lens camera (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/11/iphone-7-plus-single-model-3gb-ram/) exclusive to the larger 5.5-inch model. Meanwhile, the smaller 4.7-inch model has a larger camera cutout as seen previously (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/25/iphone-7-depicts-larger-rear-camera/).

There is also the addition of a second speaker grille occupying the space that would normally house the 3.5mm headphone jack, corroborating rumors that the iPhone 7 series may deliver stereo sound (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/19/suppliers-prepare-iphone-7-production/). At least one render has shown no stereo speakers (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/04/13/iphone-7-smart-connector-no-stereo-speaker/) in the past, however, so the feature's inclusion is still debated.

On the bottom remains a Lightning connector, which is expected to evolve into an all-in-one port (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/27/iphone-7-no-3-5mm-headphone-jack-lightning/) for audio output, charging, and accessory connectivity. There is also a traditional looking SIM card slot, which likely rules out a sketchy rumor about the iPhone 7 having dual SIM trays (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/20/iphone-7-dual-sim-trays-weibo/) for use with multiple carriers.

Other features consistent with the iPhone 6s (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-6s/) include a side-facing power button and pill-shaped volume controls, mute switch, dual-LED flash, and a microphone on the bottom and next to the rear camera.

The renders offer no hints about Apple's plans to use a flush, touch-sensitive home button (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/28/iphone-7-flush-force-touch-home-button/), a feature that could be reserved for the tenth-anniversary iPhone with an OLED display and glass casing (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/04/17/iphone-glass-casing-amoled-2017/) expected in 2017.

There is also no Smart Connector (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/smart-connector/) depicted, despite some earlier rumors (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/15/iphone-7-plus-photo-dual-lens-smart-connector/) claiming the new accessory connector will expand from the iPad Pro (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ipad-pro/) to iPhone.

Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September. In addition to the aforementioned features shown in these renders, the smartphones are expected to be slightly thinner with faster Apple A10 processors (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/06/tsmc-a10-production-info-wlp/), 32GB of base storage (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/07/05/iphone-7-to-start-at-32gb-storage/), improved waterproofing (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/04/25/iphone-7-touch-sensitive-home-button/), and faster LTE and Wi-Fi (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/10/intel-qualcomm-modem-split-iphone-7/). 3GB of RAM (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/11/iphone-7-plus-single-model-3gb-ram/) is said to be exclusive to the 5.5-inch model.
