iPhone 7 Again Said to Ship With Lightning-to-3.5mm Headphone Dongle

With just over six weeks remaining until Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-7/) and iPhone 7 Plus, leaked photos and rumors surrounding the smartphones are starting to become clear and consistent.

Deutsche Bank is the latest group to add its expectations to the mix, issuing a research note obtained by Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-taking-huge-risk-with-new-iphone-strategy-2016-7) that corroborates several previously rumored features coming in this year's refresh.

The bank, which allegedly made supply chain checks, believes the 4.7-inch model will have an improved camera and optical image stabilization, while the larger 5.5-inch model is set to gain a dual-lens camera and 3GB of RAM (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/05/11/iphone-7-plus-single-model-3gb-ram/).

Both models are also expected to have no headphone jack (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/21/2016-iphone-to-feature-minor-changes/), a touch-sensitive home button (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/28/iphone-7-flush-force-touch-home-button/) with haptic feedback, a new darker color (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/27/iphone-7-deep-blue-vs-dark-space-gray-rumor/), "professional class" waterproofing (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/21/2016-iphone-to-feature-minor-changes/), and improved sound, possibly by way of stereo speakers (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/01/iphone-7-flush-camera-stereo-speakers/).

Perhaps the most interesting bit is Deutsche Bank's belief that the iPhone 7 will ship with a Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone jack dongle in the box, rather than Lightning-based EarPods (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/01/08/iphone-7-lightning-earpods-wireless-earphones/) as previously speculated.

Many aftermarket Lightning-to-3.5mm adapters (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/23/headphone-jack-to-lightning-adapter/) are bulky and clunky looking due to the need for a digital-to-analog converter, however, so it remains to be seen if Apple could create a dongle that meets its high standards of design.

Every single one of Deutsche Bank's predictions have surfaced previously:

Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September. Other rumored features include a faster TSMC-made Apple A10 processor (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/06/tsmc-a10-production-info-wlp/), repositioned antenna bands (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/02/02/iphone-7-flush-camera-no-bands/), faster LTE and Wi-Fi (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/10/intel-qualcomm-modem-split-iphone-7/), a slightly larger battery (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/07/13/iphone-7-1960-mah-battery/), and a minimum 32GB of base storage (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/07/05/iphone-7-to-start-at-32gb-storage/). A larger 256GB model (http://www.macrumors.com/2016/06/01/iphone-7-storage-32gb-64gb-256gb/) may also be available.
