Pocket Casts gets a new look, iPad multitasking, and much more

Popular podcast app Pocket Casts has received a long-awaited update for iPhone and iPad. Pocket Casts 6.0 brings with it a refined look and feel, new audio-enhancing features, and iPad multitasking support in iOS 9, among other things.





One of the big changes that developer Shifty Jelly has made was to re-write large portions of the app in Apple's Swift programming language. Because of this, Pocket Casts has seen substantial stability improvements, along with faster performance.

On the iPad, Pocket Casts now supports Split View and Slide Over multitasking, letting you control your podcast listening while you do other things. For video podcasts, the app has also added support for picture-in-picture, letting the video window float in the foreground of your display as you use other apps.

There are other improvements as well. Pocket Casts now has its own dark mode, and a dedicated download section. Your Up Next list is now easier to manage, episodes can now be filtered by date, and i...
