TSMC reportedly starts production of Apple A11 chip for iPhone 8 with 10nm process

<div class="feat-image">(https://9to5mac.files.wordpress.com/2017/05/iphone-8-concenpt-render.jpg?quality=82&strip=all&w=1600&h=777)</div><p>According to a new report from Digitimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20170511PD205.html), TSMC has officially begun production of the Apple A11 SoC, set to feature in the iPhone  8 later this year. The foundry apparently wanted to begin mass production in April (https://9to5mac.com/2017/03/27/tsmc-to-start-mass-production-of-apple-a11-chip-in-april-ahead-of-iphone-8-10-nm-process/) but faced issues with yields. TSMC will be the sole supplier of A11 chips for the upcoming iPhone refresh.</p>
<p>The A11 chip is also expected to be included in the iPhone 7s spec bump phones, which will seemingly use the same chassis design as the iPhone 7 (http://amzn.to/2pRrM4r) and iPhone 7 Plus (http://amzn.to/2pRqcPU), although this is not universally supported by the rumors.</p>
