Farmville May Be Coming to the iPhone

A game that Facebook users have come to love or hate may be making its way onto the iPhone, according to a post in Joystiq.Ben Gilbert wrote in the blog that Zynga Game Network Incorporated's simulated farming app, FarmVille, is probably coming to iPhone, iPad, Android and SMS.Gilbert cited a post on the information-sleuthing blog, Superannuation, which listed domain registration information for farmville.com, farmvilleandroid.com, farmvilleipad.com, farmvilleiphone.com and farmvillesms.com.Each site had the same physical address, but the last four domains all had creation dates from last week.Gilbert asked Zynga about their plans for the domains. The company responded that they plan to "expand to various mobile platforms" but declined to provide any additional information.Farmville has inspired its share of fans, perhaps because of its cooperative, social game play.Computer personality Chris Pirillo called Farmville "the scourge of Facebook" last year, complaining that the app's notifications clogged his status page.iPhone developers have a number of built-in social technologies to potentially tap into, including push notifications, location services, e-mail, or perhaps even the phone itself.
