Title: MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M1 Chips Have Same 8-Core CPUs, No Upgrades Available Post by: HCK on November 11, 2020, 04:05:14 pm MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M1 Chips Have Same 8-Core CPUs, No Upgrades Available
The newly announced MacBook Air (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/macbook-air/) and MacBook Pro models that Apple announced today are equipped with the same 8-core M1 chip that also offers an integrated GPU, with Apple offering no CPU upgrades. (https://images.macrumors.com/article-new/2020/11/macbook-air-m1-models.jpg) There is, however, a GPU upgrade available for the ‌MacBook Air‌. By default, the ‌MacBook Air‌ ships with an M1 chip with a 7-core GPU, while the MacBook Pro has the same M1 chip with an 8-core GPU. If you choose the $1,249 ‌MacBook Air‌ model with a 512GB SSD, it upgrades to an 8-core GPU instead of the default 7-core GPU, but there is no custom configuration option to choose the lower tier model with the upgraded 8-core GPU option. Both the ‌MacBook Air‌ and the MacBook Pro can be customized with more RAM and more storage space. The Mac mini (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/mac-mini/) also has the same M1 chip with 8-core GPU as the MacBook Pro with no GPU/CPU upgrade option available. The new models are available today and will start shipping out next week.
Related Roundups: Mac mini (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/mac-mini/), MacBook Air (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/macbook-air/)

Buyer's Guide: Mac Mini (Buy Now) (https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac_Mini), MacBook Air (Buy Now) (https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Air), 13" MacBook Pro (Buy Now) (https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro_13)
This article, "MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M1 Chips Have Same 8-Core CPUs, No Upgrades Available (https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/10/macbook-air-pro-same-m1-chip/)" first appeared on MacRumors.com (https://www.macrumors.com) Discuss this article (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macbook-air-and-macbook-pro-m1-chips-have-same-8-core-cpus-no-upgrades-available.2266801/) in our forums
 (http://feeds.macrumors.com/~ff/MacRumors-Front?a=5C6m1SKjSd4:0rqIbf8oxoM:yIl2AUoC8zA) (http://feeds.macrumors.com/~ff/MacRumors-Front?a=5C6m1SKjSd4:0rqIbf8oxoM:6W8y8wAjSf4) (http://feeds.macrumors.com/~ff/MacRumors-Front?a=5C6m1SKjSd4:0rqIbf8oxoM:qj6IDK7rITs)
Source: MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M1 Chips Have Same 8-Core CPUs, No Upgrades Available (https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/10/macbook-air-pro-same-m1-chip/) |
