Once in a blue moon: Facebook is actually right about something

<p>There are few things the Macalope hates more than Facebook.</p><p>Hoof in mouth disease. Showing up to a technology mascots reunion and finding Clippy is already drunk. Just Clippy in general. But high on that list is Facebook.</p><p>At least partly because Facebook is the anti-Apple on several important scales, not the least of which is privacy.</p><p>As you may recall, Facebook had an app that <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/29/facebook-project-atlas/" rel="nofollow">paid teenagers[/url] to let the company have root access to their phones. What could go wrong with that? Probably fine. Just for science. When that got outraged out of existence the company <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/11/study-from-facebook/" rel="nofollow">then made an app[/url] that just paid adults for the ability to track what apps they use and for how long and to potentially access a bunch of other stuff they said they won’t look at.
