As Apple AR headset rumors gain traction, Microsoft details the future of its HoloLens platform

<p>As the Microsoft Ignite (https://myignite.microsoft.com/home?t=%257B%2522from%2522%253A%25222020-12-30T00%253A00%253A00Z%2522%252C%2522to%2522%253A%25222070-01-15T23%253A59%253A00Z%2522%257D) event kicked off today, the company took time to focus on its AR/VR efforts with the announcement of the Microsoft Mesh platform. The new mixed-reality software will work with the company’s hardware like the HoloLens 2 and more to offer collaborative virtual experiences and eventually “holoportation.” All of this comes as Apple could launch its first AR headset (https://9to5mac.com/2021/01/04/heres-everything-we-know-about-apples-plans-for-an-ar-headset/) as soon as this year.</p>
