Spotify counters Apple with new podcast subscriptions feature, but without in-app purchase support

<p>Last week, Apple announced a new Apple Podcasts Subscriptions (https://9to5mac.com/2021/04/20/apple-introduces-podcasts-subscriptions-to-pay-creators-for-content/) platform that will launch next month, likely as part of iOS 14.6 (https://9to5mac.com/2021/04/23/apple-releases-first-betas-of-ios-14-6-watchos-7-5-and-more-to-developers/). To counter Apple’s announcement, Spotify announced today that it too will allow podcasters to offer subscriptions to their shows on its platform.</p>
