Steam is finally adding support for Nintendo Joy-Con controllers

Five years after the Nintendo Switch’s release (https://www.engadget.com/nintendo-switch-fifth-anniversary-favorite-games-150044865.html), Valve is finally adding Steam support for the console’s controllers. In an announcement (https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/announcements/detail/3387288790681635164) spotted by PC Gamer (https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-finally-adds-support-for-nintendo-joy-con-controllers/?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_medium=social), the company said the latest Steam beta adds Joy-Cons support. With the new software, it’s possible to use Joy-Cons either individually or as part of a matched pair for playing games.

If you want to try the feature out, you need to opt into the Steam beta (https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/276C-85A0-C531-AFA3). You can do that by navigating to Steam’s Settings menu and clicking “Change” under the “Beta participation” heading. Keep in mind you’ll either need a Bluetooth adapter or a motherboard with Bluetooth connectivity to use your Joy-Cons with Steam since it’s not possible to connect the controller to your PC through a cable like you would most gamepads (https://www.engadget.com/valve-ps-5-controller-support-steam-110030803.html).
