Title: ProRes Video Recording on M2 iPad Pro Requires Third-Party Apps, Not Supported in Native Camera App Post by: HCK on November 01, 2022, 04:05:06 pm ProRes Video Recording on M2 iPad Pro Requires Third-Party Apps, Not Supported in Native Camera App
The M2 (https://www.macrumors.com/guide/m2/) iPad Pro (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ipad-pro/) supports ProRes video recording for the first time, but customers of the new iPad (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ipad/) wishing to take advantage of the capability will have to do so through a third-party app, as Apple's native Camera app seemingly does not support the format. (https://images.macrumors.com/article-new/2018/11/ipad-pro-2022.jpg) Customers started receiving their new ‌M2‌ ‌iPad‌ Pros this week, and noticed (https://twitter.com/zollotech/status/1585371544662200320?s=46&t=GeRVxIPQXf_vxjgrJvtMVg) that ProRes was not an option within Settings for the Camera. As Mac Otakara (https://www.macotakara.jp/category-51/entry-43732.html) points out, recording ProRes on the new ‌iPad Pro‌ requires a third-party app that's been updated for the new capability, such as FiLMiC Pro. Apple did not respond to MacRumors' request for comment on whether this is a bug and if the native Camera app will gain the ability to record ProRes video in a future update. The new 11-inch and 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ are incremental upgrades mainly featuring the new ‌M2‌ Apple silicon chip, ProRes video recording, and a new hover feature for the second-generation Apple Pencil (https://www.macrumors.com/guide/apple-pencil/). <div class="linkback">Related Roundup: iPad Pro (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/ipad-pro/)</div><div class="linkback">Buyer's Guide: 11" iPad Pro (Buy Now) (https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#11-iPad-Pro), 12.9" iPad Pro (Buy Now) (https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#12-9-iPad-Pro)</div><div class="linkback">Related Forum: iPad (https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/ipad.137)</div> This article, "ProRes Video Recording on M2 iPad Pro Requires Third-Party Apps, Not Supported in Native Camera App (https://www.macrumors.com/2022/10/28/prores-video-recording-ipad-pro/)" first appeared on MacRumors.com (https://www.macrumors.com) Discuss this article (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/prores-video-recording-on-m2-ipad-pro-requires-third-party-apps-not-supported-in-native-camera-app.2367963/) in our forums Source: ProRes Video Recording on M2 iPad Pro Requires Third-Party Apps, Not Supported in Native Camera App (https://www.macrumors.com/2022/10/28/prores-video-recording-ipad-pro/) |
