iOS 16.2, which was released to the public (https://9to5mac.com/2022/12/13/ios-16-2-new-features-now-available/) in December, appears to have once again broken gapless playback for iPhone and iPad users. According to complaints from a number of users on Apple’s support forums and Reddit, gapless playback with the Music app has been broken since iOS 16.2 was released.
