The MacRumors Show: Talking Weird iPhone 17 'Slim' Rumors

On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show (https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/weird-iphone-17-slim-rumors/id1602394741?i=1000663439772), we discuss all of the latest rumors (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/24/kuo-ultra-thin-iphone-17-specs/) about the iPhone 17 (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-17/) "Slim" – a whole new kind of iPhone (https://www.macrumors.com/guide/iphone/) coming next year.

The ‌iPhone 17‌ "Slim" is expected to sit above the ‌iPhone 17‌ Pro Max in 2025's ‌iPhone‌ lineup with a starting price of approximately $1,299 (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/22/iphone-17-lineup-specs-detail-upgrades/). The main selling point is said to be its all-new design (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/24/kuo-ultra-thin-iphone-17-specs/) touting a super-thin aluminium-titanium chassis and a relocated rear camera that could feature a variable aperture (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/23/iphone-17-mechanical-aperture-rumor/) for the first time. It is expected to have a 6.6-inch display (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/22/iphone-17-lineup-specs-detail-upgrades/) and Apple's custom 5G modem (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/24/kuo-iphone-se-4-thin-iphone-17-apple-5g-chip/), and it may also feature up to 2TB of storage (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/24/iphone-qlc-storage-rumor/). Despite its high price point, the device is rumored to contain lower-end specifications than the ‌iPhone 17‌ Pro models, such as a single rear camera, a standard A19 chip, and 8GB of memory.

We also discuss the iPhone 16 Pro (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-16-pro/)'s rumored Rose color option (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/16/iphone-16-pro-rose-color-coming/) that looks set to replace Blue Titanium, Apple's progress on a clamshell foldable iPhone (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/23/foldable-iphone-2026-report/), and the fourth-generation iPhone SE (https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-se/), which is apparently set to hit mass production in October (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/23/iphone-se-4-october-production-report/). The new low-cost ‌iPhone‌ is expected to feature an ‌iPhone‌ 14-like design with an OLED display and Face ID (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/22/iphone-se-4-rumored-to-launch-early-next-year/), a USB-C port, a single rear 48-megapixel camera, Apple's custom 5G modem (https://www.macrumors.com/2024/07/24/kuo-iphone-se-4-thin-iphone-17-apple-5g-chip/), and the Action button.
