This week Max Shay demonstrated how he was able to mount and access a portable USB hard drive on a jailbroken iPad. His efforts showed us that there is more versatility hidden in the iPad Camera Connection kit then we expected.According to a report on Engadget.com this versatility is highly underrated and we agree with them that spending $29 for this accessory is turning out to be money well spent. We can add this to the list of things that we know it can already do outside of it's labeled camera functionality--you can also hook up keyboards and USB headsets.The USB drive solution isn't street ready and it is a bit messy, but it works. Therefore, it would be nice if Apple allowed it to work without all the extra effort. Imagine being able to access your iWork files on an external thumb drive, hard drive, and more.The iPad Camera Connection kit is scarce so we recommend that you order one at Apple.com, as you are unlikely to find them in your local Apple Store. The wait time on the online Apple store was greater than two weeks the last time we checked.Here's a video demonstration:
