Apple Secretly Releases Build 12 of iTunes 9.1.1

Apple has secretly released build 12 of iTunes 9.1.1 after originally pushing build 11 to Mac users via Software Update. The newer version of iTunes, according to a report on TUAW, resolves a pretty annoying sync bug. That bug causes some unusually lengthy sync times when iTunes tries to re-encode songs that have already been downgraded to 128 kbps AAC.The option to downgrade songs is a new feature in iTunes 9.1.1 that up until now only supported certain iPods. Now, it supports the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad. If you activate it, you were likely to save gigabytes of space on your Apple mobile device, but then suffered long wait times for syncing. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to us, Apple hasn't pushed build 12 out to Mac users via Software Update.Luckily the solution is really simple: just download and manually upgrade to the latest version of iTunes by visiting www.apple.com/itunes.
