Title: OS x and Laptops Post by: Ramzus on December 27, 2008, 03:14:57 am Hello,
As we all know, there are hundreds of laptops to choose from, Acer, Asus, HP, Compaq, etc etc. Off of my understanding, Acer or Asus is the best way to go, but when looking over the compatibility list at wiki project, most, if not all, laptops stated there are no longer available. I was looking at s acer extensa 4630z, the whole purpose of a laptop for me is so i can work on my book, and for 3-D animation studies <Blender> I was wondering <and hoping> to see if someone can help me find a cheap yet powerful laptop that is very well compatible with Lep. pref 10.4.x or 10.5.x Title: Re: OS x and Laptops Post by: alyosa2001 on January 22, 2009, 12:09:45 am you should try MSI GX700 series, i have GX700x-255EU and instaled iDeneb 10.5.5, see my thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=136050

Title: Re: OS x and Laptops Post by: gluefish on March 12, 2009, 06:08:57 pm As of last night I now have Leopard 10.5.6 running on my Acer Aspire One X150.
I blew away the XP partition to do it, though. No matter. I used an external DVD drive with a torrent of iAtkos v5i. Sound and camera are working; wireless is not. Sleep does not work. The external monitor works, but I have not yet found out how to get the desktop to see it as primary, and trying to mirror it crashes the system. Other than that, following the instructions I found on AspireOneUser.com worked for me. I caution you to follow the instructions EXPLICITLY, there are lots of little potholes to fall into. http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7802&sid=7534546374e4a4b6ab51580cf1e0479b&start=0. I can probably live without the wireless. My inclination is, if I need to go out and do browsing in public, to get a wifi dongle for it.
