Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that vendors shipped 398.4 million units in 1Q12 compared to 404.3 million units in the first quarter of 2011. Based on these estimates, Apple grabbed a record 8.8% of the mobile phone market compared to 8.7% market share in the last quarter.
