Microsoft unveiled their next generation mobile operating system – Windows Phone 8 codenamed “Apollo” at the Windows Phone Developer Summit in San Francisco. The update addresses a number of shortcomings that were present in Windows Phone 7, like the lack of support for multi-core processors and high resolution displays. It also introduces a number of new features like a redesigned start screen, NFC support, external storage support and built in Nokia maps.
