Apple Replacing 3rd Gen Apple TVs With Wi-Fi Issues
      


         
         
      In an internal memo to retail stores, AppleCare employees and authorised resellers, Apple has acknowledged Wi-Fi connectivity issues with a “very small number” of Apple TVs, and has initiated a replacement program to replace affected units.
From the memo:
Apple has determined that a very small number of Apple TV (3rd generation) products might experience one of these Wi-Fi related connectivity issues:
- Cannot locate network
- Unable to join network
- Dropped or intermittent connection.
Affected units can be replaced with a two-year period starting from the date of purchase for no charge after Apple Technicians verify that the unit is running software version 5.2.1 and there’s no possibility of external interference. Apple has identified serial numbers of affected Apple TVs, as shown in the memo below:

While the Apple TV 3 was released in March last year, a few months back, Apple tweaked the device, adding a die shrunk A5 chip, and possibly addressing this Wi-Fi issue. Here’s the full memo Apple sent to technicians:
