Sure, next Tuesday we get new iPads and the like. But what about this Tuesday? Right now? Living in the moment? YOLO?

That would a bunch of minor Java and printer driver updates from Apple, available right now via Software Update and from Apple’s website.

Java for OS X 2013-005 1.0 delivers “improved security, reliability, and compatibility by updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_65” for those running OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. And if you’ve been remiss in your duties and haven’t previously installed the Java for OS X 2012-006 update, note that Tuesday’s version will disable your Java applet plug-in, forcing you to download it from Oracle if you hope to use it again.

Those stuck in Snow Leopard-ville have Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 17 to look forward to when firing up Software Update instead. It provides similar buzzwords…er, improvements as the above version.
