How to use photo and video extensions in iOS 8

<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-use-photo-and-video-extensions-ios-8' title="How to use photo and video extensions in iOS 8 "><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large_wm_brw/public/field/image/2014/09/photo_extensions_litely_iphone_6_hero.jpg?itok=rbmKiPD7' /></p> <p>There are lots of great photo editing apps (http://www.imore.com/best-photo-editing-apps-iphone-lightroom-photoshop-snapseed-and-more) available for the iPhone. However, no matter how great they are, you still have to edit in multiple apps at times in order to get the results you want. <a href="http://www.imore.com/ios-8" title="iOS 8 news, rumors, speculation">iOS 8 is aiming to change all that by using the built-in <a href="http://www.imore.com/photos" title="Photos for iPhone and iPad features, help, and how-to">Photos app as a central hub for editing tools across the board. Once you've got apps installed that support photo and video extensions, all you've got to do is enable and start using them!</p> <!--break--> <h2>How to enable photo and video extensions in iOS 8</h2> <p>Photo and video extensions only work if you have apps installed that support them. That means you'll need to have photo and video editing apps installed via the App Store that have extensions added to them. Here are a few that I've found to already support photo extensions in iOS 8:</p> <ul><li>Camera Plus - $1.99 - <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/camera-plus-capture-remotely/id330803072?mt=8&amp;at=10l3Vy&amp;ct=d_im" title="" rel="nofollow">Download Now</li> <li>Fragment - $1.99 - <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fragment-prismatic-effects/id767104707?mt=8&amp;at=10l3Vy&amp;ct=d_im" title="" rel="nofollow">Download Now</li> <li>Litely - Free - <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/litely/id850707754?mt=8&amp;at=10l3Vy&amp;ct=d_im" title="" rel="nofollow">Download Now</li> </ul><p>Once you've got a few that support the feature, you just have to enable them once.</p> <ol><li>Launch the <strong>Photos app</strong> on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 8. </li> <li>Tap on the photo or video you'd like to edit.</li> <li>Tap on <strong>Edit</strong> in the top right. </li> <li>Tap on the <strong>More button</strong> in the bottom menu — for iPhone 5s and earlier, the More button may be in the <strong>top navigation</strong>.</li> <li>Tap on <strong>More</strong> one more time. </li> <li>Turn <strong>On</strong> the app extensions you'd like to show up in the more menu from now on. You can also reorder them in the order you'd like them to appear. </li> <li>Tap <strong>Done</strong> in the upper right hand corner and your app extensions are ready to use!</li> </ol><p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-use-photo-and-video-extensions-ios-8' title="How to use photo and video extensions in iOS 8 "><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2014/09/photo_extensions_howto_1.jpg?itok=KDu202G4' /><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-use-photo-and-video-extensions-ios-8' title="How to use photo and video extensions in iOS 8 "><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2014/09/photo_extensions_enable_howto_2.jpg?itok=ntfDpwNi' /></p> <h2>How to access and use photo and video extensions in iOS 8</h2> <ol><li>Launch the <strong>Photos app</strong> on your iPhone or iPad. </li> <li>Find the photo or video you'd like to edit and open it. </li> <li>Tap on <strong>Edit</strong> in the upper right hand corner.</li> <li>Tap on the <strong>More button</strong> in the bottom navigation. </li> <li>Tap on the <strong>app name</strong> that you'd like to pull filters or edits from. </li> <li>Make your edits and tap <strong>Done</strong> at the top when you're satisfied. </li> <li>Repeat <strong>steps 4 thru 6</strong> again with other photo editing apps if you'd like. </li> <li>Tap <strong>Done</strong> in the bottom right hand corner when you're finished editing. </li> </ol><p><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-use-photo-and-video-extensions-ios-8' title="How to use photo and video extensions in iOS 8 "><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2014/09/photo_extensions_howto_1.jpg?itok=KDu202G4' /><a href='http://www.imore.com/how-use-photo-and-video-extensions-ios-8' title="How to use photo and video extensions in iOS 8 "><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2014/09/photo_extensions_use_howto_2.jpg?itok=bbaTb5Mo' /></p> <p>That's all there is to it! You can now share your photo however you'd like. As you can see, photo extensions in iOS 8 simply allow developers to bring editing tools into the Photos app so they can work better together. This means you no longer have to perform an edit in one app, save the photo, open it again in yet another app, and save it again. This means you have less photo versions cluttering up your photo library as well. Not only that, since iOS 8 features non-destructive edits, you can always return to the original photo at any time.</p> <p>And as always, if you've found any great photo and video editing apps that have already started supporting iOS 8 extensions, be sure to let me know in the comments!</p> <p>See also:</p> <ul><li>How to use smart photo adjustments in iOS 8 (http://www.imore.com/how-use-smart-photo-adjustments-ios-8)</li> </ul></div></div></div><div id="comment-wrapper-nid-26491"></div><img width='1' height='1' src='http://tipb.com.feedsportal.com/c/33998/f/616881/s/3ec1dc21/sc/4/mf.gif' border='0'/><br clear='all'/>
