Apple's deal with Google is set to expire early next year, and both Microsoft and Yahoo apparently feel that this is the right time to try to grab a lucrative deal with Apple out from under Mountain View. Both companies have reportedly held talks with Apple SVP Eddy Cue, according to The Information (https://www.theinformation.com/All-Eyes-on-Apple-as-Google-Search-Deal-Expires-Next-Year):</p> <!--break--> <p>Google has always been the default search engine in Apple's browser on the iPhone and iPad as well as on its desktops and laptops starting years earlier. But that deal is up for renewal in early 2015, sources tell The Information, and Yahoo and Microsoft have separately begun to pitch Apple executive Eddy Cue for the business, according to people at those companies who were briefed about the bake-off.</p><p>Any deal that led Yahoo or Bing becoming the default search option would be a boon for either company. Bing is already the search provider for Apple's Siri (http://www.imore.com/siri) virtual assistant. And any deal that sees Google loose its place would be a win for Microsoft, which currently has a deal to power Yahoo's search options.</p> <p>Source: The Information (https://www.theinformation.com/All-Eyes-on-Apple-as-Google-Search-Deal-Expires-Next-Year)</p> </div></div></div><div id="comment-wrapper-nid-28577"></div><img width='1' height='1' src='http://tipb.com.feedsportal.com/c/33998/f/616881/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/mf.gif' border='0'/><br clear='all'/> <a href="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/rc/1/rc.htm" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/rc/1/rc.img" border="0"/> <a href="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/rc/2/rc.htm" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/rc/2/rc.img" border="0"/> <a href="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/rc/3/rc.htm" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/rc/3/rc.img" border="0"/> <img src="http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/a2.img" border="0"/> (http://da.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/a2.htm)<img width="1" height="1" src="http://pi.feedsportal.com/r/213968880198/u/49/f/616881/c/33998/s/40d4fa20/sc/4/a2t.img" border="0"/><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheIphoneBlog/~4/A4e7LTLRFOI" height="1" width="1"/> Source: Competitors reportedly take aim as Apple/Google search deal nears expiration (http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/TheIphoneBlog/~3/A4e7LTLRFOI/story01.htm) |
