Marchionne wouldn't elaborate about his meetings with Tim Cook and Elon Musk beyond some cursory comments.

"I'm incredibly impressed with what that kid has done," he said, referring to [
Tesla CEO Elon] Musk.

With regard to Apple's Cook, he said: "He's interested in Apple's intervention in the car, that's his role." Marchionne was not more specific about Apple.

Rumors suggest Apple's working on its own self-driving car, though Apple's broadcast absolutely no indications that's what it's working on. Apple's main contribution to the automotive market at present is CarPlay (http://www.imore.com/carplay), which makes it possible to control iPhone apps and services using the in-dash entertainment systems built into newer vehicles.

Source: Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/05/09/us-fiat-chrysler-marchionne-tech-idUSKBN0NU0RD20150509)
