Irish Finance Minister expects EU to drop Apple tax investigation

<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p><a href='http://www.imore.com/irish-finance-minister-expects-eu-drop-apple-tax-investigation' title="Irish Finance Minister expects EU to drop Apple tax investigation"><img src='http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large_wm_brw/public/field/image/2012/09/iphone_5_apple_logo_macbook_hero.jpg?itok=ATxFdM7o' />[/url]</p> <p>After the European Commission said it was investigating Apple (http://www.imore.com/apple) for its tax arrangements (http://www.imore.com/tag/taxes) with Ireland (http://www.imore.com/ireland-under-investigation-eu-alleged-apple-tax-avoidance) in June, Irish Finance Minister Michael Noonan said Friday that he expects the case to be dropped. Noonan's comments were made in Brussels, and he said that the EU doesn't have a strong case.</p> <!--break-->
<p>My legal advice is that the Irish authorities will win the case quite easily and that there isn't a very strong case by the Commission. It's more likely that investigation will be dropped rather than there being further investigations.</p>
<p>The European Commission is investigating if any EU laws (http://www.imore.com/eu-accuse-apple-illegal-irish-tax-deal) were broken as a result of a tax deal between Ireland and Apple.</p> <p>Source: Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/11/07/us-apple-ireland-tax-idUSKBN0IR26N20141107?feedType=RSS&amp;feedName=technologyNews)</p> </div></div></div><div id="comment-wrapper-nid-28236"></div><img width='1' height='1' src='http://tipb.com.feedsportal.com/c/33998/f/616881/s/40451578/sc/7/mf.gif' border='0'/><br clear='all'/>
