Apple's retail push in India underway, 500 stores planned across 12 cities<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Apple is moving ahead with its plans to establish authorized reseller stores in several cities in India. News of a major expansion into India was first revealed
last year, with Apple looking to set up 500 stores in 12 cities that sell iPhones, iPads and accessories.</p> <!--break--> <p>According to
NDTV Gadgets, Apple has already identified locations within the cities it wants to target, and is directly involved in selecting partners. It is believed that over 100 partners have already signed up, with Apple having the final say in terms of design:</p>
<p>The stores will need to conform to Apple's strict guidelines in terms of size and design, with Apple - or specifically an Apple-appointed contractor - building the store's interior before handing it over to the retailer. Apple is handpicking the retailers it will work with as part of the programme, with existing Apple retailers with good performance history being given preference.</p>
<p>The publication states that the retail stores will be owned by individuals, and that they will be able to affect pricing on products based on changing market scenarios. The move to expand its presence in India underscores Apple's continued interest in Asian markets following the manufacturer's significant
