Internet connection Help!!!

I finally got Mac lion loaded my Toshiba Qosmio x505-q892. Everything works except the sound and internet. There is no wifi indicater across the top and after going thru System Preferences (from the Applications folder, the Dock, or the Apple menu) and click the Network icon, there is nothing to choose from..left side bar or pull down menu. Are there drivers I can get or do I have to by a router for the airport utility? Thanks for any help!!
