Apple’s Annual “Back to School” Promo Kicks Off

It’s the Tuesday before Memorial Day, and that means it’s time for Apple to kick off its annual “Back to School” promotion. As predicted by MacRumors on Monday night, Apple has officially launched its 2010 “Back to School” promotion, which encourages college students or faculty and staff at any grade level to buy a new Mac with educational pricing and get a free 8GB iPod touch. The promotion starts today, May 25, and runs through September 7, when most students are literally back to school. That gives you all summer to take advantage of the discounted educational pricing and free iPod touch. “No wonder they call these the best years of your life,” as Apple puts it on their “Back to School” page on the company’s website. The process is simple: Shop for a Mac at the Apple Online Store for Education, an Apple retail store or even an Apple Authorized Campus Store, then add an 8GB iPod touch to your order (the Mac and iPod touch must be purchased at the same time to qualify). Once you’ve received your Mac and iPod touch, submit a rebate claim online within 90 days and Apple will send you the dough. Why a free iPod touch? According to Apple, “Along with tons of other great features, iPod touch has built-in Wi-Fi for downloading thousands of games, movies, songs, apps, and amazing, free educational content from iTunes U.” We’d guess that most students have the first few uses in mind, though.Remember, the Back to School promotion ends September 7, so enjoy your summer -- but don’t miss out on that free iPod touch!
