Security writer says 'Goodbye Android', switches to iPhone

[/url]

I've written about the security and privacy advantages of iPhone and the benefits of timely and wide-ranging iOS software updates before but many of my Android friends dismiss it because I write about it here on an Apple-centric website. Fair enough. Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai is a longtime Android aficionado, however, as well as a security journalist, and historically not a fan of Apple. Yet he's switching and he's writing about it on Vice:

So when the original iPhone came out a few years ago, I swore in multiple heated discussions with friends and strangers that I'd never buy an iPhone. Since then, I've only owned Android phones. First a few HTC ones, now a Sony phone.

Well, I'm sick of it. And I'm ready to go to the dark side.

Lorenzo still thinks Android is great, but because of how hard it is to get security updates, he's going iPhone. Obviously, other people have other priorities and not everyone will make the choice Lorenzo is making.

Still, this isn't a problem that looks to be going away any time soon and Lorenzo offers a lot of insight for anyone even considering making the switch. Give it a read and let me know what you think!

Switch to iPhone series
