VirnetX wins $625 million decision in FaceTime patent case against AppleApple has been ordered to pay $625 million as the result of a patent infringement case with holding company VirnetX. As reported by Fortune, the damages stem from Apple's use of patented technologies used in FaceTime, along with certain VPN patents: On Wednesday, jurors in Texas federal court ordered the iPhone maker to pay nearly $335 million over an earlier finding it had infringed on Virtual Private Network patents, plus another $290 million upon finding Apple's popular FaceTime feature infringed different patents. Apple's fight with VirnetX actually dates back to 2012, when the patent holder won a $368 million verdict against apple over patents used in FaceTime.
