Apple hires automotive prototyping experts from Tesla and Andretti

It appears that Apple may be prototyping parts for its rumored car project, if a couple of recent hires are anything to go by. David Masiukiewicz, who until last month was a senior CNC programmer for R&D hardware prototyping at Tesla, is now a senior model maker at Apple in the company's product realization lab, which Apple has used to prototype new Macs, iPhones, and more.





As noted by 9to5Mac, Masiukiewicz joins another fairly recent hire from last year in the product realization lab, Kevin Harvey. Before joining Apple in August, Harvey supervised the CNC machine shop at Andretti Autosport for almost 15 years. Given the expertise of both of these new hires, it does seem likely that Apple is at least prototyping auto parts, though it does seem to mean that there's still a long way to go before we see any news of an Apple Car from the company itself.
