1Password 3.2 is Ready for Safari 5 Within An Hour or Two
If you’re anything like us, you can’t live without Agile Web Solutions’ excellent 1Password software. So imagine our pain when we installed Safari 5 on Monday night, only to discover 1Password was broken -- that is, until an hour or two later when a rapid-fire update brought it back to life.If you rely on 1Password on your Mac but want the creamy goodness of Apple’s new Safari 5, fear not: Agile Web Solutions posted the good news to their company blog on Monday night that 1Password 3.2 is available and plays nice with Cupertino’s latest browser update.If you’re not familiar with 1Password, it’s a $39.95 Mac application to create and store passwords, identities and credit card data and automatically fill them into your web browser, just like magic. Agile also offers a $14.99 universal version for iOS devices which works on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad (the latter also has a dedicated $6.99 version available), with extensions for Firefox as well as Safari. A Windows version of 1Password is currently beta testing, as well as an extension for Google’s Chrome browser.“It’s here, and we’re ready,†the Agile team wrote on their blog Monday night. “1Password 3 has been updated for Safari 5 compatibility, so you won’t have to wait to upgrade to Safari 5 or do without 1Password in Safari. In addition, this update (1Password for Mac version 3.2) includes a number of fixes and improvements, as usual, so it’s worth your while to grab the latest version even if you’re not upgrading to Safari 5 just yet.â€In fact, the crack team at Agile caught a last-minute bug in 1Password 3.2 that was causing the 1P button to vanish in Safari 5, and issued a 3.2.1 update with rapid-fire speed within moments of the 3.2 update. It’s no wonder why the company’s message boards and comments are filled with such loving praise, because few developers on any platform are as efficient as Agile.One of the biggest issues facing developers for Apple’s Safari has been the lack of true extensions -- as rumored only a few days ago, Cupertino has finally plugged that hole with the release of Safari 5, which should see some interesting developments (and hopefully plenty of cool new ways to use Safari) in the coming days.For now, we can all sleep soundly, content with the knowledge that Agile Web Solutions was there to make our new Safari 5 experience that much better.
