6 Plus, it's easy to start ditching your wallet for your device. Here's what you need to know.<!--break--></p> <h2>What banks and credit cards support Apple Pay?</h2> <p>At launch, Apple Pay supports credit and debit cards from most of the major issuers, including American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Citi, and Wells Fargo, with support for Barclaycard, the Navy Federal Credit Union, PNC, USAA, and USBank coming later in the year.</p> <p>Notably absent is Discover Card. The credit card issuer has lagged behind MasterCard, Visa, and American Express in consumer adoption over the last few years, but it's not completely out of the mobile loop—
Google Wallet supports Discover, after all. As such, it's likely we'll see it come to Apple Pay sometime down the line.</p> <h2>What stores accept Apple Pay?</h2> <p>Apple has partnered with 34 national chains in the United States, allowing the company to offer Apple Pay in over 220,000 stores at launch. Here are the stores currently accepting Apple Pay:</p> <ul><li>Aeropostale</li> <li>American Eagle Outfitters</li> <li>Apple</li> <li>Babies R Us</li> <li>BJs</li> <li>Bloomingdales</li> <li>Champs Sports</li> <li>Chevron</li> <li>Disney Store</li> <li>Duane Reade</li> <li>ExtraMile</li> <li>Foot Locker</li> <li>Footaction</li> <li>House of Hoops</li> <li>Kids Foot Locker</li> <li>Lady Foot Locker</li> <li>Macy's</li> <li>McDonalds</li> <li>Meijer</li> <li>Nike</li> <li>Office Depot</li> <li>Panera</li> <li>Petco</li> <li>Radio Shack</li> <li>Run</li> <li>Six:02</li> <li>Sports Authority</li> <li>Subway</li> <li>Texaco</li> <li>Toys R Us</li> <li>Unleashed</li> <li>Walgreens</li> <li>Wegmans</li> <li>Whole Foods</li> </ul><p>Additionally, Anthropologie, Free People, Sephora, Staples, Urban Outfitters, and Walt Disney World will begin accepting Apple Pay later in 2014.</p> <h2>How to set up your card with Apple Pay</h2> <p>Assuming you have a supported card along with an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, or iPad Air 2, setting up Apple Pay is relatively painless.</p> <ol><li><p>Make sure you've upgraded to iOS 8.1, which enables Apple Pay on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. (Not sure if you have? Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.)</p></li> <li><p>Open the Passbook app and drag down on the screen to reveal the plus button icon, then tap it. By default, Apple Pay will ask to automatically add the card associated with your Apple ID; you need only supply the three-digit security code on the back.
If this doesn't work and you know you have a supported card, you can always tap the Add a Card button and enter in your card information manually. When entering in a new credit or debit ard, you can either type out the card number or use your device's back camera to scan the 16-digit number. (Note: Apple Pay's photo-detection only works on with embossed numbers; if you have a credit or debit card with flat numbers, it won't recognize the digits.) After you've done so, enter in the expiration date and security code and tap Next.</p></li> <li><p>After communing with your bank's servers, you'll be asked to read and accept a set of terms and conditions, at which point your card will be provisionally activated via Apple Pay.</p></li> <li><p>At this point, things vary depending on your card issuer. Capital One, for example, automatically adds and activates your card for Apple Pay after you accept your terms and conditions. Citibank, however, requires an activation code; to get it, the bank will robo-call or text the number you have on file.</p></li> </ol><p><a href='

http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/large/public/field/image/2014/10/how_to_setup_apple_pay_screens.jpg?itok=MD2uVagX' />[/url]</p> <h2>Troubleshooting Apple Pay</h2> <p>If you're having trouble getting Apple Pay to accept your card, the simplest solution is to just try entering in your information again; I had no luck activating my cards on Monday evening, but entering in the same information on Tuesday morning worked like a charm.</p> <p>Worst-case, you may just need to call your card issuer. For example, the last card I tried to set up never sent the verification code to my phone number on file, so I had to manually retrieve it through the phone system. That call was pretty painless, however; I had Apple Pay fully up and running on that card within ten minutes.</p> <h2>Go, use, wow your friends</h2> <p>Are you planning to try and use Apple Pay this week?
